Control + Share Your Robot - Setting Up the MakeAffinity Client

Summary: Download, install and run the client and copy and paste your Client ID into your project settings. 

Step 1: Download, install and run 

  Download, install, and run the MakeAffinity Client on your computer (System Requirements). 

  Start Menu -> Programs -> MakeAffinity -> MakeAffinity Client. 

Step 2: Establish contact

  Establish contact between your client and the MakeAffinity website:

  At your MakeAffinity client: 

    a) Copy your Client ID by clicking on the Copy button. 

        A Client ID looks like this: 11321c20-6567-4438-be23-51fac876fb01

  At the website:  

    Login to your MakeAffinity account at the MakeAffinity website.

    a) Create a new robot project there:

        Go to: Make Editor -> Create New Robot
   
        Type in a name in the Name box and click the Create button.

        The system may ask you to enter a different name if the name is already used by another user.

        The web page will now show your newly created robot project in your list of robots.  

    b) Enter your Client ID:

      From the list, select the robot that you have just created by clicking on Select.

      Click on the Settings tab.
   
      Paste or type in the Client ID of your client to your robot project's Master Client ID box.

      Click Save All. 

Step 3: Test your connection

  Go to Make Editor -> Actions tab -> Add Action/Show My Devices.

  In the Device dropdownlist you should now see an entry called (0) Test Connection Success. The website can now communicate with your client.

  Check your firewall settings or recheck your steps if you do not see (0) Test Connection Success.
